Saints series – in progress

A contemporary reinterpretation of a classic art theme: tales about saints of Christianity, a distinctive trait of popular culture since many centuries.

Saints and their figurative depictions could be in fact considered as pop icons nonetheless, traditional subjects, yet capable of being absolutely modern due to the long lasting appeal in mass culture, often transcending their mere religious value and purpose, as seen throughout centuries.

The whole body of works carries more in depth personal reflections and thoughts about the process of making art, the aesthetics beneath the framing of a subject, the bond between artist and his art and the relation between art (and/or the artist) and the viewer.
